Cities across America face urgent challenges. The effects of the global climate crisis are already being felt. Population centers are shifting. Traffic-induced gridlock is inevitable. America needs more sustainable alternatives to driving and flying for a brighter future — and that future is within our grasp. Amtrak has met with stakeholders across the US, analyzed the market, and developed a vision: more trains serving more people. More frequent, sustainable, and equitable alternatives to driving and flying. 39 new routes, 25 improved existing routes, 160 new communities in addition to the 500+ served by Amtrak today, and 20 million more riders each year.
