  • Cold Jet - the world leader in developing innovative dry ice cleaning solutions will be providing dry ice cleaning demonstrations at booth 6820 at APTA. The demos utilize Cold Jet’s i³ MicroClean, which showcases the innovative dry ice blasting technology, a non-abrasive cleaning method that provides a cleaning solution that is fast, delicate and does not use chemicals or solvents.

Dry ice cleaning is an innovative cleaning technology that can save both time and money in nearly any manufacturing environment. It is similar to other types of media blasting, but the Cold Jet® systems use recycled CO2 in the form of dry ice to clean and prepare surfaces. The dry, non-conductive CO2 pellets are accelerated at supersonic speeds through a specialized hose and nozzle.  Once the dry ice strikes the surface, the effect of the combination of kinetic energy transfer, thermal shock and gas expansion breaks the bond between the substrate and the contaminant and flushes the contaminant away.  Also, upon impact with the surface, the dry ice pellets sublimate back into a gas, leaving no secondary waste or residue.

Dry ice is a soft media and non-abrasive on many surfaces, so it can be used to effectively clean delicate components and equipment without damage.  Because it is a dry clean, it can be used around electronics and other sensitive components where cleaning with water or other solvents would normally be problematic.

As the ultimate clean-in-place tool, dry ice minimizes disassembly and pre-job preparation time – and because the dry ice turns into gas upon contact with the substrate, cleanup time and disposal costs are reduced and foreign grit contamination to sensitive moving parts is eliminated.

Dry ice cleaning provides a non-conductive, environmentally responsible cleaning process that is residue free and creates no secondary waste. It is versatile enough for both delicate cleaning of sensitive electrical equipment without damage and also aggressive enough to remove thick grease and burnt carbon from hard metal surfaces.

Cold Jet is the world leader in developing innovative, environmentally responsible dry ice cleaning solutions and dry ice production equipment and is the only dry ice cleaning machine manufacturer that offers the patented shaved dry ice technology for dry ice MicroParticles. Cold Jet dry ice MicroParticles are able to clean areas in which conventional 3 mm dry ice pellets are unable to reach and reduce the risk of damage to surfaces. There is less noise when compared to pellets or fragmented pellets, leading to a better working environment and increased worker safety. MicroParticles also significantly reduce the consumption of dry ice and compressed air because less power and pressure (kinetic energy) are needed in the acceleration process.
