    To truely evaluate candidates, you need to ask questions that will tell you what you really want to know: how will you perform in this position? In order to get this information, it is essential that you ask the right questions. Much can be learned by listening to how a candidate has handled instances in the past, in addition to how they foresee handing future instances.

    In a behaviorally based interview the focus is on the candidate’s natural response to situations.   • Vancouver, WA  --  Select Advantage, an innovative human resources consulting firm, recently released a Transit Supervisor assessment to round out the existing suite of assessments created specifically for the transit industry: Bus/Coach Operator, Paratransit Operator, and Transit Customer Service Representative.  Geoff Rodgers, president of Select Advantage, feels that this newest assessment is especially valuable given the research showing that supervisors have a huge impact on productivity, job satisfaction, and retention.  "People don't leave jobs.  They leave supervisors," Rodgers stated.  

    The assessments offered by Select Advantage are unique in that they are job specific and behaviorally based.  They are constructed using a thorough job analysis that utilizes superior performers from that same position.  Rodgers explains, "The assessments are designed to measure specific job behaviors.  They do not measure personality or psychological constructs, rather they measure the person for the job.  It is those innate behaviors that you cannot teach which determine success on the job."
