  • PCTEL Launches Bi-Directional Train Top Antenna for Passenger Wi-Fi

    5 GHz Antenna Extends Range and Reliability of Wi-Fi Signals from Wayside Equipment

    PCTEL, Inc. (Nasdaq:PCTI), a leader in Performance Critical TELecom solutions, announced on September 18th  its new 5 GHz bi-directional train top antenna. Wi-Fi on passenger and metro rail systems is evolving from a competitive advantage to a basic service expectation. PCTEL's new bi-directional antenna communicates with wayside equipment in either direction from the train, providing reliable passenger Wi-Fi while minimizing installation and maintenance costs.

    "In developing our new train top antenna, PCTEL engineers worked closely with our customers in the rail industry. The result is a reliable, cost-effective antenna solution to the challenge of providing high-speed Wi-Fi over extended track distances," said Rishi Bharadwaj, Senior Vice President and General Manager of PCTEL's Connected Solutions group.     PCTEL's train top is ruggedized for high-vibration environments and meets EN50155 and AAR certification requirements for use in Europe and North America. It is designed for metallic or non-metallic roof mounting on crowded train tops with no available ground plane. The antenna's high port-to-port performance correlation and symmetrical patterns minimize interference between signals, maximizing data throughput performance and reliability.

    PCTEL will display its new bi-directional train top antenna along with other antenna solutions for rail in booth #6810.   • PCTEL Launches Multi-Band LTE/Wi-Fi/GNSS Antenna with Sub-Inch Profile

    Antenna Supports Precision Agriculture, Industrial IoT, and Covert Public Safety Applications

    PCTEL, Inc. (Nasdaq:PCTI), a leader in Performance Critical TELecom solutions, announced on August 14th  its new multi-band LTE/Wi-Fi/GNSS antenna with a sub-inch profile. The antenna combines PCTEL's high rejection multi-GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) technology for precision timing and location tracking with high performance multi-band data connectivity. The antenna is also rugged and easy to install, making it ideal for covert public safety operations, precision agriculture, and the Industrial IoT.

However, vehicles and autonomous systems have limited space for antenna installation.     Low Profile, Six-Port MIMO Omnidirectional Antenna Supports M2M Video Streaming

The MIMO Coach antenna supports wireless Internet of Things (IoT) applications such as power distribution monitoring for utilities, fleet connectivity for public safety, and video monitoring for secure facilities. This dual-band, low profile antenna enables data-intensive machine-to-machine (M2M) applications, even when multiple devices in the area are using Wi-Fi. During the event, Trooper reliably delivered high speed data and location information, supporting LA-RICS's concept for a First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) nationwide broadband network.
